“You can do as much or as little as you want to do here, it’s self limiting. So many things are taken care of for you, that you don’t have to worry about lawn care, snow removal, or even housekeeping if you wish. The options here are many. You can build a house or choose an apartment, and when needed assisted living and health care are available. These options are very important as one ages”, said Bob.
There are very few retirement communities that we’ve heard of that have the complete extensive care that Dorothy Love offers, because as you age there are things you’re going to need, just looking to the future is imperative. We are staffed with such caring people. They care about everybody and are warm and friendly. We’re very satisfied here at Dorothy Love”, said Carol.
Marie Stevens
“I’ve been a resident here for eight and a half years now and just love it! I keep very busy doing exercises for people with arthritis twice a week, take tai chi classes, line dancing classes, do crafts, take computer classes, and I am also in a book group that meets once a month. I volunteer here on campus. I’m in charge of two libraries and the Video Nook, and I substitute in the gift shop. There’s always something going on here in addition to all the things that I do.
The staff here is great and upbeat. The maintenance is wonderful and quick to solve any problems one may have. The security makes rounds day and night, so I always feel safe and secure. The facility is just wonderful. There was no other choice for me than Dorothy Love”, states Marie.

“As a engineer, I helped design most of the structural work at Dorothy Love so I was very familiar with it from a structurally sound standpoint and it only made sense for us to move here. I have lived here for two years and my wife for nine years now.
We live in the apartments which are very comfortable and well maintained. They provide housekeeping every two weeks, the food in the Oak Tree Dining Room is great and there are many activities going on if you wish to participate. I would recommend living here to anyone, I have no regrets”, said George.

“Actually, we looked at over 70 retirement communities on the internet, and visited about half of them. We felt that Dorothy Love had more to offer to us and they allowed us to bring our cat”, said Jerry.
“This is a very caring and supportive community, from the residents, to the staff, to the administration. That’s one of the reasons we choose Dorothy Love, because we felt in our early conversations here with everybody that it was a comfortable place to be. Everything comes together to make a pleasant living experience”, said Lynne.

“We frequently eat at the Oak Tree Dining Room. We buy a dining room card, and if we have guests or sometimes my wife doesn’t feel like making a meal or we’re running out of time, we’ll go to the dining room to eat and the food is just outstanding.
One has so many choices here at Dorothy Love. We live just as independently here as in our previous home. There’s no strict regimen that you have to adhere to socially and you get to make new friends. It comes down to having choices in an environment that is very safe and pleasurable. We are very pleased with moving here to Dorothy Love”, stated Bill.

“The fact that everything is in a progression here is really important. Whatever your needs may be, there is a place for you to go. For example, if one would need respite care or therapy that is available here on campus”, said Luella.
“Living here is pretty much carefree. You don’t have to worry about mowing the grass or shoveling the snow, which allows us the time to do what we really want to do”, commented Harold.

“I chose Dorothy Love because I felt it would feel more like a home where I could do what I wanted to do and take part in activities. You’re as independent as you want to be. If you need additional help, it is here.
I enjoy making new friends, and there’s always something do here if you want to. The choices are unlimited. I feel I’ve made a wise choice by moving here”, spoke Esther.

“As a ten year resident of Dorothy Love, I feel the financial strength of being a part of the OPRS communities, which incorporates eleven facilities, is a very strong position. Dorothy Love offers four stages or divisions of continuing care. Those divisions are living in a house, an apartment, the assisted living area, or the full blown skilled nursing facility.The true peace of mind is knowing that they will take care of you for the rest of your life and guarantee you will never have to leave should you run out of finances. Dorothy Love is a splendid retirement community”, spoke Scott.
Paul & Margaret Cook
“We would stress that the rural atmosphere here is great. We’re from a small town so we like having fields behind our house. We also like the freedom we have with our home, close access to town for doctors, dentists and shopping is very handy. We really like that the staff here is helpful, friendly and courteous, often going beyond what you might expect”, states Margaret.“We truly appreciate our chaplain and the services we have, and the get togethers with fellow church goers. I’d like to say that the mission statement is very important to us because I think the emphasis put on that statement is a lot of what makes Dorothy Love what it is. We looked all over the country and this is the best”, said Paul.

“I’ve lived here for four years now, and I chose Dorothy Love in a large part due to the fact that they specialize in dementia patients. My wife has suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for ten years, and when I could no longer take care of her myself, we found a retirement community that could take care of both of our needs.
I looked at six or seven places that had health care within a twenty-five to thirty mile radius of our home, and it was not a difficult decision. In every facility that I visited except Dorothy Love, I was not there for long until I knew I was in a health care facility because of the affected air. No such thing here at Dorothy Love, and it’s not an easy task to have a health care facility and not have odors. They’re quite good on the details and the staff has good training. There is a lot of compassion here and that is reflective in the quality care that my wife receives here at Dorothy Love”, states Tom.
