If someone you care about is afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease or a related disorder, tragically their ability to perform the daily activities of life gradually diminish, making it impossible for them to function independently or, realistically to be cared for at home.

At Dorothy Love we understand the special needs of the dementia resident and we are dedicated to providing the finest professional care and highest quality of daily life possible for those persons suffering from Alzheimer's Disease or a related disorder.

This is accomplished in several ways:

The physical environment has been designed to allow as much personal freedom as possible, yet conducive to their needs for security and safety.

By scheduling a higher number of staff, who have received extensive training in the care of the dementia resident, we strive to meet the total physical and emotional needs of each Alzheimer's resident with compassion and respect for their dignity.

Because we believe that a dementing illness does not mean an end to enjoying life, each day is filled with activities designed to be meaningful and satisfying to our residents while still within their individual capabilities.

Families are an important part of the "team", providing input and having opportunities to retain some care giving roles. Equally important is the support that is provided to the family through Licensed Social Workers and the Alzheimer's Support Group.
